Decrepit Descriptions

OK OK... Now what did that post title mean? I don't really know myself... the two words were just in my mind and as they are wont to do, they came out through my hands onto the keyboard. That actually is not the reason... I guess the allure of alliterations is too much for me to resist. That having been said, the title is not entirely meaningless. Ever been on Orkut? For that matter, any such "networking" sites? Even Rediff has started bandying about this Connections or something like that...

All these sites ask one to "describe"oneself... in their words "about yourself"... the "descriptions" become tiresome, worn out... yes, decrepit! I, for one, have always found this very irritating... I mean, I have to take stock of what I am like, what I would want to be like and what would be "presentable" to the whole wide world; and then put into some three-four lines "about yourself"... How ridiculous is that!! Especially for a complex individual like me!! Well, enough of this ranting I guess. Been having a real bad case of Blogger's Block (there goes the alliteration again!!)... been watching the third season of The Apprentice and I blame that for my lack of creativity - this bunch of street"smarts" vs book"smarts" lacks the vital quoted portion; and I think this is rubbing off on me.

Anyway, was watching The Hours and found this nice dialogue worth quoting: You cannot find peace by avoiding life, Leonard - Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woolf. Well, totally unrelated to whatever I was ranting about, but I think it still is apt here 'cause I am sure most of you are decided on avoiding my rants and this quote shall, I hope, serve as a reminder that there is no peace in avoiding it... *evil grin*

Well, in parting, for all those who hate Bill Gates and Microsoft, I take this opportunity to show you that MSN is not really too biased and may not be afraid of some competition. Take a look at these two pages from MSN search - Search 1 and Search 2. Of course I wouldn't mind sharing the widely-known reason why Bill Gates decided to name his company Microsoft with those who don't know it yet (where the hell have you been all this while?) - those interested can mail me. :)

Guess that will be enough for today...

I watched a full soccer match after ages, and without doubt, it is THE game! And, what a match it was!! It really can't get any bigger than this in terms of league soccer - Arsenal vs. Manchester United. One of the biggest rivalries in club soccer around the world.

After a stupendous run last season - where they remained unbeaten, setting a new EPL record - Arsenal seem to have gone down pretty much, conceding too many goals off late. The first half of the match was an absolute treat to watch. Excellent plays and some rather hot moments between the two teams. The Gunners seemed like they got back in touch with their best game skills and were really good. Watching Dennis Bergkamp make some of the plays he made was really awesome. The second half was a completely different story. Though they did continue making some great plays, Arsenal just couldn't keep Man U back. From a half-time score of 1-2 down, Man U finally fought with a ten-man team (after Silvestre was sent off) to end the game 4-2!! That was a way too big number of goals to concede - 3 goals in one half!! Almunia (Arsenal's goal-keeper) was in no man's land for two of those goals. Arsenal really needs to find someone who can keep the nets well - and soon!! The sad thing was that Henry didn't really get into the game much - yes, there's the great pass he made to Bergkamp for the Gunners' second goal.

Arsenal have ended their 32-match unbeaten record at home in Highbury finally - and the fact that it occurred at the hands of their bitterest rivals is just like rubbing salt over the wounds. Sad Sad Day!

Update: I just realized that Arsenal's Premiership record of 49 unbeaten games was also broken by Man U!! Why, God, Why? Why should it be Man U both times?!
